Desktop Bundle Includes Server Functionality

VICOM Technologyís VICOM Internet Gateway is being bundled with AppleShare IP 5.0. Internet Gateway software lets networked users simultaneously access the Internet using only one IP address and one connection device.

VICOMís Internet Gateway incorporates a software router with proxy/ masquerade functionality, a DHCP Server, PPP server and a firewall.

It is Power PC native, utilizes Open Transport drivers, and can support up to 1,024 clients. Clients can be any combination of Macs, PCs or UNIX workstations. Ethernet, LocalTalk and Token Ring networks are also supported, and Internet connections can be made by dial-up modem, ISDN, cable modem or leased line (T1).

VICOM Internet Gateway also supports all Internet client applications such as Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, Eudora and Fetch, automatically connecting to the Internet when users launch one of these applications.

Since the Gateway enables network administrators to centrally control what Web sites can and cannot be accessed by network users, this bundle suits the educational environment quite well.

The bundled version of VICOM Internet Gateway will support up to 25 users. Itís available through Appleís usual distribution channels. A demo version can be downloaded from VICOMís Web site. VICOM Technology, Mountain View, CA, (415) 691-9520, www.vicomtech.com
