New Furniture Line Has An Ergonomic Design

Nova Solutions unveiled a new classroom furniture line at NeoCon '97 that can be adapted to fit a variety of learning environments. The patented, recessed-monitor system frees the worksurface for books and notepads, and provides a clear line-of-sight for both teachers and students.

Computer users view their screens through tempered glass at a downward gaze angle, which, according to scientific evidence, reduces eye and neck strain often caused by eye-level monitors. Hinged-door shelves on each desk store a CPU and other equipment. The firm designed this furniture line for a major educational training corporation with facilities across the United States. "This client presented a special problem because the classrooms are pie-shaped, and they wanted to maximize space," said Terry Bosch, vice president of marketing and sales.

Each trapezoidal-shaped desk accommodates two students, with all cables and hardware secured out of sight. Educators may custom order The Electronic Learning Center, and units will be delivered in six to seven weeks. Nova Solutions, Inc., Effingham, IL, (800) 730-NOVA, www.novadesk.com.
