Portal Provides Framework for Online Learning

BASCOM Global Internet Services' My Global Chalkboard is a Web-based education portal that links educators together according to school or district. Based on the Global Chalkboard, My Global Chalkboard includes sites that are pre-selected by a panel of BASCOM's in-house educators, and that are updated regularly.

Functioning in much the same way as an online school library, the service lets users add, catalog and access resources. Further, when a school signs up for its own version of My Global Chalkboard, it receives its own URL, as well as its own custom portal using its own logo, photos or banners. Schools can also customize categories on their pages. The portal features easy, flexible site administration. Schools may add or edit sites to My Global Chalkboard through an administration module that makes the process of reviewing and publishing approved Web sites efficient and straightforward. Custom views and various sort options help users find grade-specific sites quickly. These sites can also be sorted according to their educational value.
