Interactive Maps Bring History to Life

GeoPortals.com's GeoHistory Americas Map Folio is a digital portfolio of networkable history maps, located at the demonstration site of www.geohistory.com via the product demo link. The Folio is a complete historical review of the Americas, from the earliest days of exploration to the present, with 300 separate map layers in an electronic collection, including North, Central and South American history. The directory of all GeoHistory maps and layers is available upon request.

GeoHistory maps, available to subscribers, provide a visual tool for teaching the history of the Americas in an interactive, intuitive and interesting way. Each map deals with a theme of American history and is composed of a number of related layers dealing with the sequence of important historical events. The maps are presented in two Flash formats - a guided slide program and a set of two preprogrammed movies. The guided slide program covers five sample topics: U.S. territorial expansion, U.S. territorial claims, Central American liberation, U.S. presidential elections and The West (19th century). The preprogrammed movies depict various events of the Revolutionary and Civil wars. The maps are also presented in JPEG format, and include user controls such as timelines and zoom options. The maps can be networked electronically in a LAN or WAN. GeoPortals.com Inc., New York, NY, (800) 728-0032, www.geoportals.com.
