QuarkXPress 5.0

QuarkXPress 5.0 adds a new Tables feature that allows users to create graphically rich tables to structure design elements or organize complex data. Rows and columns in QuarkXPress tables can contain picture and text boxes with virtually all the typographic and image control QuarkXPress users are accustomed to. The new Layers feature allows users to isolate items on separate tiers within QuarkXPress documents, and lets users manage document variants quickly and easily. The new version is expected to help users save time and money with a revised, more efficient print-user interface, enhanced PDF support, contextual menus and better color management. With QuarkXPress 5.0, designers can also take their skills directly to the Web without learning how to use new tools. New and enhanced features support print, Web and PDF workflows. QuarkXPress 5.0 is an open application that relies on industry standards to generate content for print, Web and e-books. Users can import and/or ex-port dozens of file formats, in-cluding HTML, PDF and XML. Also, the XTen-sions interface allows developers to enhance the functionality of QuarkXPress to meet the needs of unique publishing workflows. More than 500 XTensions are commercial-ly available. A beta version of Quark XPress 5.0 is now available for download at www.quark.com/products/xpress/beta. Quark Inc., Denver, CO, (800) 676-4575, www.quark.com.
