Digital Imaging Camcorders: Canon

Canon's Elura 40MC digital camcorder is designed to be a multipurpose digital imaging device. The Elura offers three recording modes. The video mode captures up to two hours of high-quality digital video with digital stereo sound when using an 80-minute MiniDV tape. The photo mode lets users record digital photos in XGA or VGA resolutions with sound. In the motion-JPEG mode, users can record short video clips that can be sent as e-mail attachments. With the Elura 40MC, users can also print photos directly from a Canon CP-10 Card Photo Printer. Users can print wallet-sized photos or a sheet of photo stickers. The camcorder itself features a new 1/6", 680K pixel CCD image sensor and dual image processor for improved color reproduction. A new miniature 10x optical zoom lens further enhances image quality. An integrated zoom extends the camcorder's magnification to either 40x or 200x, and the Image Stabilizer complements the zoom by instantly compensating for tiny camera movement. For a more creative experience, users can choose from several special effects, including Art, Black & White, Sepia and Mosaic. Canon U.S.A., Lake Success, NY, (516) 328-5000, www.usa.canon.com.
