Editors' Picks - Sylvania CL872 LCD Monitor

The new Sylvania CL872 ($499) 18" TFT active-matrix LCD monitor, which is PC and Mac compatible, offers up to a 1,280 x 1,024 resolution and weighs only 11.44 lbs. It features an impressive 400:1 contrast ratio, a 0.279 mm dot pitch and two built-in stereo 3-Watt speakers. Important for schools, the monitor has a wall-mount interface and a 160-degree horizontal viewing angle. The CL872 has six control keys conveniently located on the monitor's right side, which keeps its front almost button free except for the main power button. In addition, Sylvania recently selected Proview Technology Inc. to develop and market a full line of monitors under the Sylvania brand name, including 14", 15", 17", 18" (the CL872) and 19" LCD units, as well as 17" and 19" pure-flat CRT displays.
