LightPointe (858-643-5200, www.lightpointe.com), a designer and manufacturer of optical wireless products based on free-space optics technology, is now offering its FlightStrata model for fiber-like, building-to-building connectivity. Optical wireless products operate in the unlicensed spectrum and deliver point-to-point connectivity between buildings on beams of light. On average, optical wireless products provide fiber-optic bandwidth at a fifth of fiber's cost, and they are installed in a 10th of the time. The products are also immune to radio saturation or interference. LightPointe's FlightStrata is the optical wireless industry's only multiple-beam tracking system that incorporates multiple transmitters and a receive lens array to address "scintillation" and temporary path obstructions. The system also incorporates automatic power control and optical beam shaping to provide greater performance under a variety of atmospheric conditions. FlightStrata is available in several versions, including 52 Mbps, 155 Mbps and 1.25Gbps models.
