News Briefs - World Book Online Reference Center

To make its Web content accessible to all students, World Book has announced changes to its subscription-based World Book Online Reference Center (www.worldbookonline.com) that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This means that World Book is enhancing not only its 25,000 encyclopedia articles, but also 250,000 dictionary entries, as well as thousands of photographs, illustrations, maps and videos. The changes include a new design that features a consistent layout with clear, simple headings. In addition, text can be increased by several sizes to assist the visually impaired, and audio pronunciations have been added to the site that will enable all visitors to better understand difficult terminology.
