Discovery Health Connection

Discovery Education has introduced its Discovery Health Connection (www.discoveryhealthconnection.com), a subscription-based service that offers a comprehensive library of video and multimedia content. This online K-12 resource addresses the nine critical areas of youth health and prevention as defined by the National Institute of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: violence, tobacco, nutrition, alcohol and other drugs, the body, mental health, growth and development, physical activity, and safety. The programs take traditional health and prevention curriculum kits, then combine them with Discovery’s Web content, giving teachers access to curriculum programs, teachers’ guides, worksheets, video and extension exercises - all addressing the nine critical areas. The service also includes in-depth curricula developed by the Comprehensive Health Education Foundation, including K-12 substance abuse and bullying/teasing prevention programs. A free 30-day trial version is now available on the company’s Web site.
