Adopt-An-Author (www.adoptanauthor.com) is a free, Webbased,nationwide non-profit program designed to excite studentsabout reading and writing through the use of best-selling thrillers,heroic nonfiction stories, and motivational books chosen by the sitebecause they are fun and interesting. Designed by author SteveAlten, the site includes works from six authors and has curriculumsuggestions for teachers, as well as fun games, quizzes, and projectsdesigned to challenge students and test their knowledge. Adopt-An-Author also offers direct contact (via personal appearances,classroom phone calls, e-mails, and interactive Web sites) betweenthe authors and students during the reading and learning process.
