Global Research Project to Measure the Value of Technologies in Schools

A joint international research project involving the US, the UK, and Australia was launched last week to coincide with the IT Global Summit 2006. The research project will investigate new ways to measure the value of education technologies in schools in the three countries. Three structured case studies will be developed—one in a school or district in each country—that will provide insights into the value of educational technologies in schools. The aim is to include both tangible and intangible assets in the measurements. The purpose of the research is not to reproduce what is already happening in each country, but to leverage it and contribute to it. This study will be of benefit to policymakers and school leaders in the three countries, as it will provide an approach for informing data-driven decision-making processes concerning how best to provide up-to-date technology resources for students…

DynTek Acquires TekConnect

DynTek Inc., a provider of professional technology services, has completed the acquisition of the operating assets of TekConnect Corp., a technology integration and consulting firm with a focus on the K-12 education market. TekConnect offers an extensive range of services, including technology consulting, systems integration, staff development, and staff augmentation. This transaction completes DynTek’s acquisition of TekConnect’s operating assets. On June 19, 2006, DynTek announced the acquisition of the assets of TekConnect’s Long Island division, based in Islip, NY.
