FETC Brief: Journey To Acquire CCV

At last week's FETC 2008 conference in Florida, Journey Education Marketing, an online education reseller, announced that it's in the process of acquiring Vero Beach, FL-based CCV Software. The move will expand Journey's coverage from higher education into the realm of K-12.

The acquisition, according to Journey, will result in the company forming two divisions, one for higher ed (JourneyEd) and one for K-12 (CCV). Journey said in a statement released last week that the acquisition will not affect existing customers. "Ultimately," the company wrote, "customers will benefit from a larger product selection, improved customer service, and new programs that weren't available to them before. In JourneyEd's never-ending quest, over time it will find ways to improve the customer service and shopping experience with JourneyEd.com. The company will also use its cutting edge technology to power and give the back-engine of CCV's website a major upgrade, which will improve customers' shopping experience. From a people standpoint, JourneyEd will make available its entire Dallas team to help support CCV."

The acquisition is expected to close this week.
