Florida Virtual School Launches Connections Academy

Florida Virtual School has partnered with Florida Connections Academy to Launch the Florida Virtual School Connections Academy (FLVSCA). The move expands FLVS' middle school program and also expands its reach into the K-5 arena.
FLVSCA will focus specifically on elementary and middle school students (K-8) and will be available to students throughout Florida.
"Our partnership with FLVS and with districts throughout Florida is grounded in our mission to deliver a highly personalized program that meets the full range of an individual student's educational needs," said Connections Academy President Barbara Dreyer in a statement released Friday. "We're excited about using the flexible pace options, inherent in online learning, to target each child's learning needs."
FLVS serves middle and high school students and estimated its 2007-2008 enrollment at about 100,000 in grades 6 through 12. It serves all districts in Florida and also operates around the country with educators in 35 states, according to the most recent information available. It employs more than 400 full-time and 176 adjunct teachers. It also operates a global program that it launched a little more than a year ago.
