Panda Security, Against Intuition Offer Free 'Web of Trust' Browser Addon

Panda Security, which sells security products and services, and Against Intuition, which has developed a rating service that gauges Web site trustworthiness, have teamed up to offer a co-branded version of WOT. The Web of Trust browser addon warns Internet users about risky Web sites that may be guilty of online scams, identity theft, spyware, spam, and insecure commerce practices.

The free WOT security addon is available for Firefox and Internet Explorer users. It provides safety ratings to search results when using Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, and other popular sites. The user sees a tiny icon beside the link--green for go, yellow for proceed with caution, and red for stop. The safety ratings are generated from WOT's community of users. The co-branded edition will also tap Panda's datastore of new malware strains and phishing threats.
