New Systems Take Blended Approach to Reading Intervention

School Specialty, an educational curriculum developer, has announced three new intervention systems designed to address the achievement gap in reading skills among students of grade levels 3 through 12.

The components included in the systems--which include Academy of Reading, Making Connections, and MCI ("Making Connections Intervention")--feature a combination of teacher-led classroom curriculum and online lessons.

Academy of Reading is a Web-based software program intended to provide targeted reading instruction to students on an individual basis.

The Making Connections workbooks aim to develop reading comprehension and include support for English language learners.

MCI provides lessons which focus on the needs of students in the targeted and intensive tiers of the response to intervention (RTI) guidelines. It's aimed at struggling readers in middle school, as well as older students.

More details about the new interventions can be found here.
