Brief: Brightpoint Kicks Off Literacy Mini-Grant

Brightpoint Literacy has kicked off a new mini-grant program aimed at improving literacy in boys.

Brightpoint, an imprint of Peoples Education, distributes cross-curricular literacy titles for K-8 students in the United States, including the Boldprint Kids, Boldprint Graphic Novels, and Graphic Poetry collections. According to the company, it launched the grant in response to findings released in 2010 that boys lag behind girls in reading achievement.

The grant will offer $500 in Brightpoint Literacy products to one winner. Applicants need to fill out an online application explaining "how they would use $500 of Brightpoint Literacy products to engage their [male students] in literacy learning." WInners will be selected by online voting.

The deadline for submissions is March 15. Winners are expected to be announced April 11. Complete details on the "Brightpoint Literacy Engaging Boys in Literacy Classroom Mini Grant" can be found here.
