ASCD, CoSN Partner for New Professional Development Course

ASCD and the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) have launched a new PD Online course called From Vision to Action: The 21st Century Teaching and Learning Plan.

Designed to help educators understand and implement 21st century teaching and learning, the course includes readings, videos, presentations, questions designed to provide immediate feedback, application exercises, and customizable tools that can be downloaded.

Topics covered by the $99 course include:

  • Creating a vision to help schools adopt 21st century practices;
  • Using data to understand how to support 21st century learning;
  • Turning a vision for 21st century learning into an action plan;
  • Monitoring and assessing the implementation; and
  • Assessing the plan's successes and challenges and facilitating future improvements.

"We're excited to enter into this first-ever partnership with ASCD to bring this course to all educators," said CoSN chief executive officer Keith Krueger. "By offering a highly interactive program, school and district leaders, and particularly those that want to work in collaboration with their peers, will be able to truly envision and implement a teaching and learning plan for the 21st century. Such an undertaking is the core of our organizations' joint mission to create learning environments that enable students to maximize their potential."

Founded in 1992, CoSN is a "professional association for school district technology leaders" with a mission of "Empowering educational leaders to leverage technology to realize engaging learning environments," according to information on the organization's Web site.

Formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, ASCD was founded in 1943 with the goal of "advancing best practices and policies for the success of each learner," according to information released by the organization. The nonprofit has 150,000 members in more than 145 countries.
