Califone Intros Touchscreen MP4 Player for Education

Califone has released the 8201 MP4 media player with touchscreen at InfoComm 2012. Designed for education, the 8201 supports audio and video recording and playback, image capture, gaming, and e-book capability.

A growing number of today's educators are making use of digital tools and activities to enhance learning, says Tim Ridgeway, vice president of marketing for Califone, in a statement released this week by the company. "The 8201 enables teachers to facilitate rich educational experiences and empower students to take control over their own learning," he notes.

Califone's new media player features an LCD touch screen, durable silicon shell, two headphone jacks, and built-in microphone. The 8201 delivers up to 5.5 hours of playback, includes 4 GB of built-in Flash memory—as well as a micro-SD card slot—and supports MPG, MP3, MP4, WMV, RealVideo, ASF, ACI, RealAudio, Quicktime, JPG, and TXT formats. The device comes programmed for safe hearing levels, with the option to change settings for users with special hearing needs.

The 8201 includes a one-year warranty, covering educational use, with service support available through authorized dealers. Califone offers models that support two and four-student learning centers.
