BenQ Intros New Projectors for the Classroom

BenQ has introduced five new projectors for its M5 series. The new models, intended for small- to medium-size venues and classrooms, feature a brightness of 3,000 lumens and extended lamp life of up to 10,000 hours.

The M5 projectors come in a range of resolutions. The MS504 and MS521 offer a resolution of 800 x 600 (SVGA); the MX505 and MX522 offer a resolution of 1,024 x 768 (XGA); and the MW523 offers a resolution of 1,280 x 800 (WXGA). All units feature a 13,000:1 contrast ratio.

The MS521, MX522, and MW523 support 3D viewing via Blu-Ray player. The MS504 and MX505 deliver 3D projection. The MS504 and MX505 come with 3D glasses, content card, and video card. They also include audio pass-through function, which allow them to be used as audio systems when in stand-by mode.

The projectors include SmartEco technology, which is designed to deliver up to 10,000 hours of lamp life, according to a statement from the company.

AV inputs for all models include dual RGB/component (D-sub 15pin), composite video, S-video, and stereo mini jack. The MS521, MX522, and MW523 also come with HDMI and dual stereo mini jack. Outputs include RGB (D-Sub 15pin) and stereo mini jack. Networking and control ports include RS-232, USB type B, and IR.

The new projector models will be available at the end of November. The MS504 will retail for $429; the MS521 will run $489; the MX505 will sell for $499; the MX522 will retail for $529; and the MW523 will sell for $749. More information about the M5 series can be found at the company's site.
