NEC Intros 4 Portable Projectors For Education

NEC has introduced four new digital projectors to its M Series line. The portable DLP models -- the 2,800-lumen M282X, 3,200-lumen M322X, the 3,200-lumen M322W and 4,000-lumen M402X -- are designed for use in schools and corporate environments.

NEC's new filter-free digital projectors come with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and XGA and WXGA resolutions. The 3D-ready units also feature quick start, remote diagnostic capability and "auto power-on via the RGB input connector," according to the company. DisplayNote and Wireless Image Utility tools enable users to transmit images from desktops and mobile devices to the projectors. The projectors have up to 10,000 hours of lamp life, in ECO Mode.

Additional features common to all of the new projectors include:

  • Carbon savings meter;
  • 3D HDMI;
  • USB Viewer;
  • Built-in access point;
  • Wall correction presets;
  • Auto power management;
  • 20-watt speaker; and
  • Image Express Lite software, for transmitting data and audio peer-to-peer over a network.

AV inputs on the M282X, M322X, M322W and M402X include dual HDMI, RGB (VGA D-sub 15-pin), USB, RCA and stereo minijack. Outputs include RGB monitor (VGA D-sub 15-pin) and audio jack. Networking and control ports include RS-232, infrared, wired LAN, DDC/CI, USB and optional wireless LAN.

The new projectors will begin shipping in April. The M282X will be available for $629; the M322X will be available for $699; the M322W will be available for $799; and the M402X will be available for $959. All models come with a two-year limited warranty for parts and labor. The lamp is covered for one year or 500 hours. Extended warranties are available to education and Star Student customers.
