Perrysburg Schools Adopts New SIS

Perrysburg Schools in Ohio is replacing its legacy student information system (SIS) in an effort to improve efficiency and data accuracy, provide parents with greater access to information and integrate with other district information systems.

"We were looking for a solution that would seamlessly integrate with many of the platforms we currently use, such as IEP Anywhere and Schoology," said Joe Sarnes, technology integration specialist for Perrysburg Public Schools, in a news release. Sarnes and his team selected the widely used student information system, PowerSchool SIS, which offers integration with the district's online systems.

PowerSchool is providing the district with a tool to transfer student grades between the Schoology learning management system (LMS) and PowerSchool SIS, which will improve efficiency and data accuracy, according to a news release from the company.

"PowerSchool will increase efficiency throughout the district," said Sarnes. The SIS includes a Parent Portal that will enable families to monitor their children's proficiency on standards and to receive alerts related to their children's education. School administrators, parents and students can use the system to access assignments, grades and comments, and district administrators will have better control over student data, according to the company.

"We are looking forward to a simplified scheduling process, easier onboarding of new students, ability to view a student's GPA and down the road, integration with all the systems we currently use," said Sarnes.

Perrysburg Schools is located in northern Ohio and serves more than 4,800 students at four elementary schools, one junior high school and one high school.
