Washington District Adopts Adaptive Assessment Platform
Washington's Tacoma Public Schools has selected a new math and reading assessment system for students in grades K-10.
Following a three-month-long review process that featured written submissions and formal presentations to the Tacoma District Student Assessment System team, the district chose to adopt i-Ready Diagnostic from Curriculum Associates.
Aligned to the Common Core State Standards, i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive tool designed to diagnose individual students' instructional needs down to the sub-skill level and aims to predict performance on the Smarter Balanced assessments. Students, teachers and administrators can monitor student progress via user-friendly reports and teachers can download lessons unique for each student's needs in grades K-8.
"This recognition testifies to the high level of rich data i-Ready provides students, teachers and parents as they work to improve learning outcomes and ensure students are prepared for college and professional life," said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates, in a prepared statement. "Our adaptive technology provides a window into students' strengths and weaknesses in order to support teachers in helping all students progress academically."
