WYNC Teen Radio Show Releases Audio Journalism Curriculum

Radio Rookies, a Peabody Award-winning show created by teens for teens on WYNC public radio, has released a new curriculum for teachers looking to teach audio journalists. The Common Core-aligned curriculum includes lessons on recording audio (from hardware to mobile app recommendations) and journalism basics (interview tips, narrative techniques, etc.).

A New York Public Radio initiative, Radio Rookies holds workshops for students across New York, predominantly in under-resourced neighborhoods, who are interested in radio journalism. Radio Rookies offers additional free resources for educators and a DIY toolkit of learning resources (video tutorials, tip sheets and handouts) to empower students to create their own stories.
