AeroHive Rolls Out On-Premises WiFi and Switch Management Solution

Aerohive Networks, a mobility and cloud networking solutions company, this week rolled out a new unified network management system capable of managing thousands of devices.

The new HiveManager NG Virtual Appliance is an on-premises version of NG, Aerohive's public cloud solution, according to information from the company. The difference lies in the installation and administration features that are specific to each environment. “HiveManager NG Virtual Appliance manages Aerohive’s unique cooperative-control WiFi architecture, which distributes network intelligence among its self-organizing devices and, as a result, does not require centralized and expensive controllers. This significantly reduces the cost of the network management platform,” a company statement said.

It can be deployed on an existing server infrastructure for $1,799, or new server hardware and software can be purchased with prices starting at $3,300 for a 500 AP network. (The total cost to support a 2,000 AP network is less than $5,000.)

HiveManager NG Virtual Appliance also offers secured profile-based access management, which is ideal for guests and BYOD devices, according to the company.

A datasheet with more information on the solution is available here. Aerohive will be exhibiting in booth 332 at the upcoming ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) conference next week, June 25-28, in San Antonio, TX. The Journal will be exhibiting in booth 754 at ISTE 2017.
