Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Launches Grant Program

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative wants to help educators improve existing school-based practices for learning and human development through a new grant program.  The program will provide one- and two-year grants for up to ten teams of schools, support organizations and researchers.

The goal of the program is to help educators implement, improve and measure practices in for learning in their classrooms. The goal of the initiative is to support specific projects that will identify a school-based practice, use the science of learning and human development to refine and iterate the process and collect data to determine how the practice works in the field.  The $5 million whole child grant program is currently accepting applications through September 13, 2019.

"Taking an evidence-based, whole child approach to learning is critical for accomplishing our mission in education," said Sandra Liu Huang, head of education at CZI. "We believe that this RFA provides an opportunity to identify and improve existing whole child practices by leveraging the science of learning and human development to help educators access resources that help students develop key thinking and behavioral skills beyond academics."
