Voyager Launches Blended Curriculum for Literacy Intervention

Voyager Learning has launched Language! Live, a blended literacy intervention curriculum for grades 4-12.

Aligned to the Common Core State Standards and targeted at students who are at least two years behind grade level, Language! Live "combines teacher-directed learning with personalized, adaptive instruction in an online social environment," according to a Voyager news release.

The online component uses word-training lessons in an effort to develop skills such as phonological awareness, sentence structure, fluency, word use, spelling, and phonics. The platform is also designed to encourage peer-to-peer learning through social media, and includes games, individualized learning paths, multimedia, and other tools.

Designed to "help students achieve their academic goals through targeted intervention and honing in on more advanced literacy skills," according to the release, the teacher-led small and large group component focuses on areas including:

  • Fluency;
  • Grammar, usage, and sentence structure;
  • Oral comprehension;
  • Close reading of informational and literary texts;
  • Vocabulary; and
  • Writing.
