MindConnex Launches Shakespeare in Bits for Android
MindConnex has made its
Shakespeare in Bits series available for Android devices via the Google Play store.
Previously available for Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, iOS and via browsers, Shakespeare in Bits is designed to take a multimedia approach to
engage middle and high school students with the works of Shakespeare. The tools feature the unabridged text of the plays with inline
translations, hours of animation that can be played alongside the text and biographies for each character and maps describing their
relationships with other characters.
The company currently offers
Romeo and Juliet,
Macbeth,
Hamlet,
A Midsummer Night's Dream and
Julius Caesar,
with Othello in development.
"Our aim is to make Shakespeare more accessible to a generation of students who are comfortable learning in a digital medium," said Fergus
Connolly, CEO of MindConnex Learning, in a prepared statement. "Given the growing prevalence of the Anrdoid OS in the education space,
launching the series in the Google Play Store will offer increasing numbers of students this unique tool for engaging with and understanding
some of Shakespeare's most enduring works."
