PCI Cards Provide Extra Serial Ports

Keyspanís new SX family of low-cost, multi-port serial cards for PCI-based Macs offer additional high-speed serial ports on one PCI card.

Both the SX-2 (two ports) and SX-4 (four ports) provide standard RS-232/RS-422 connectivity through mini din-8 connectors.

With an SX serial card, multiple ports can be dedicated to specific tasks simultaneously, without reconnecting devices or interrupting applications. Mac users can employ the serial expansion for ISDN terminal adapters, modems, printers, scanners, drawing tablets, PDAs, digital cameras and more.

The SX family supports asynchronous communications at per-port speeds of up to 230 Kbps. Keyspan, Richmond, CA, (510) 222-0131, www.keyspan.com
