BP Expands A+ for Energy Grants

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

01.12.2007—Energy provider BP says it's expanding its A+ for Energy grant program, expanding into six Southeast Texas counties.

The A+ for Energy program awards $5,000 to $10,000 in individual grants to teachers in pre K-12 schools for "submitting creative classroom, after-school, extra-curricular or summer activities involving energy education and/or energy conservation." Last year's grant program awarded about $1 million to 93 teachers in 69 schools in Southeast Texas, according to BP.

The 2007 competition has been expanded to include "accredited teachers in Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Harris Counties, as well as Montgomery County for the first time." This year's competition also includes a new "Sustainability Award," allowing last year's winners to apply for ongoing support. Winning teachers will also receive a scholarship to attend a three-day energy training conference.

The deadline to apply is March 23. Winners will be notified May 21, and an awards celebration will be held in June. Applications can be found at the link below.
