LeapFrog Updates Literacy Center

01.24.2007—LeapFrog SchoolHouse today released an updated version of The Literacy Center (TLC), a pre-kindergarten and early elementary classroom reading/literacy program. It gains enhanced features for English Language Learners, as well as new tools for special education instructors.

TLC is a curriculum suite composed of three individual components: The LeapDesk workstation, LeapMat learning surface and the LeapPad personal learning tool. The latest release, version 2.0, includes several additions to ELL and special education management and activities features.

On the ELL side, TLC 2.0 adds new interactive books with Spanish language support, teacher resources for multi-language classrooms and nearly 500 new activities for English language learners. In terms of new features for special education, TLC now includes Link to Lessons 3.0, which introduces a new "Individualized Education Plan" progress reporting feature.

Link to Lessons 3.0 also includes:

  • More than 5,000 activities for individual, small-group, and whole-class instruction;
  • The ability to track student progress with individual and classroom reports;
  • Alignment with the DIBELS assessment model; and
  • A new storage solution for improved organization of the program components and better classroom management.

The latest version is available in three editions: PreK, Grades K–1+, and English language development.
