Presidio Networked Solutions has recently announced wireless network deployments for St. Lucie County Public Schools in Florida. The implementation was aimed at replacing aging infrastructure, increasing network access for students and faculty, and enhancing security.

According to the announcement, the St. Lucie County deployment includes local area network and wide area network infrastructures for the district's 42 campuses, as well as centralized management for the new system.

"Implementing and sustaining a robust IT infrastructure is now a strategic imperative in education," said Dave Hart, CTO for Presidio, in a prepared statement. "Education IT departments on every level, from K-12 to higher education, are undertaking major retooling efforts, even under increased pressure to reduce costs. Educators recognize that by replacing outdated technology with future-ready solutions, they can gain security and mobility, streamline operations and reduce operating expenses overall. It's the most cost-effective way to provide students with superior learning opportunities while increasing the productivity, effectiveness and collaboration of faculty and staff."

According to the company, the new systems provide wireless access to all classrooms and common areas for St. Lucie County Public Schools.
