Alabama To Monitor Prek-12 for Dropout Indicators

The Alabama State Department of Education and STI have launched the Graduation Tracking System to support the state's dropout prevention awareness campaign, Every Child a Graduate.

The system is available free to all schools, districts, and education agencies in Alabama through InformationNOW, STI's student information system. The Graduation Tracking System will monitor attendance, behavior, course credits, and other indicators of students at risk for dropping out, and provide alerts to counselors, graduation coaches, response-to-intervention coordinators, and other administrators.

The system will track students from prekindergarten through grade 12 and is one of nine recommendations made by the Alabama Select Commission on High School Graduation and Student Dropouts to reduce the state's dropout rate by 25 percent between 2008 and 2015.
