Google Partners with CDW To Offer Chromebook Solutions
Google and CDW have launched a partnership that will see the former offer enterprise Chromebook solutions for education customers. According to CDW, the solution will help school districts meet the technology requirements for SBAC and PARCC online assessments.
Under this partnership, CDW will offer Chromebooks with a Web-based management console as well as network, integration, and configuration services. According to the company, the management console will make it easier for schools to deploy, scale, and centrally manage a fleet of chromebooks. The console enables IT administrators to apply district policies, applications, and settings to users' devices, preinstall or block applications and Web sites, assign and track devices, manage user access, and control network access.
CDW's service offerings include:
- Conducting network assessments and configuring wireless networks to ensure adequate bandwidth;
- Enrolling devices in the network domain and applying network configuration settings.
- Asset tagging and configuration, including updating Chromebooks to the latest approved Chrome OS release; and
- Providing professional development to users.
According to Andrea Bradshaw, senior director and general manager for mobility solutions at CDW, Chromebooks offer ease of use for the end user and peace of mind for management. "Users can collaborate and connect to the resources they need in the cloud, wherever they are. Organizations can deploy and scale quickly with very little management overhead--and sleep better at night knowing that security protections and protocols are in place," she said in a prepared statement.
