Samsung Unveils Intel-Powered Chromebook 2

Samsung Chromebook 2Samsung has debuted a new Chromebook 2 model that offers speeds of up to 2.58 GHz and sports an 11.6-inch HD display.

The new Samsung Chromebook 2 is powered by an Intel Celeron N2840 processor, with clock speeds of up to 2.58 GHz. It includes 1 MB level-2 cache and 2 GB of 1.33 GHz DDR3L system memory. (Samsung already had an 11.6-inch Chromebook 2 on the market, but it's powered by a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor rather than an Intel processor.)

Other features include:

  • An 11.6-inch, 1,366 x 768 display;
  • 16 GB storage capacity;
  • Nine hours of battery life;
  • 2 watt stereo speakers;
  • 720p webcam;
  • Integrated Intel HD graphics.

The device weighs in at 2.6 pounds and measures 11.40" x 8.60" x 0.66".

According to Samsung, its Chromebooks are used in more than 8,500 schools in the United States, with 14 million of the devices in students' hands.

The Samsung Chromebook 2 is available for preorder now for $249.99 and is expected to be widely available next week. Additional details can be found at samsung.com/us.
