OverDrive Education is piloting Sora Extra, a new feature added to the Sora reading app that allows students to connect to interactive reading resources from teachingbooks.net. The announcement was made at the 2023 TCEA Convention & Exposition, taking place this week in San Antonio, TX.

Sora offers a catalog of educational ebooks and audiobooks and is used in some 59,000 schools around th world, according to the company.

According to OverDrive: "Sora Extra complements the digital books and engage students in a variety of educational subjects. This new Sora Extra connects digital books in Sora with TeachingBooks’ vast collection of games, video book trailers, read-along audiobook performances, meet-the-author interviews, and more."

Following a pilot with "a few dozen schools," the Sora Extra feature will be available through an icon within the app that will authenticate students with TeachingBooks.

OverDrive will be showcasing the technology in booth 1672 at TCEA this week. Further details can be found at overdrive.com/education.
