Literacy company Lexia has introduced Lexia Aspire Professional Learning to help educators of grade 4-8 students teach literacy skills, focusing on helping them transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Aspire Professional Learning is digital, self-paced, and flexible. It expands on Lexia’s existing LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) program, which teaches the fundamentals of reading instruction. The Aspire program aims to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to support varying levels of literacy competency in their classrooms, the company said.

Clever’s new report, “Cybersecure 2023: The State of Data Security and Privacy in K–12 Schools,” shares results from its survey of nearly 4,000 U.S. school administrators and educators, revealing that teachers underestimate cyber risks when compared to administrators and overestimate the potential vulnerabilities posed by students and staff.

When COVID-19 prevented in-person coaching, observing, and co-teaching, the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program started using video and continued in full force, with over 1,000 teachers participating in the 2020–21 school year and the program has continued growing, with nearly 1,400 teachers participating this school year — data shows it is indeed helping the state retain teachers.
