Network Offers Tools, Content and Resources for Educators, Students

Learning Network offers parents, students and teachers an array of online educational tools, content and reference resources. And, for the second time, the site is holding its annual sweepstakes, which offers visitors a chance to win a three-night, four-day trip for four to Washington, DC, complete with $1,000 in spending money. Visitors to the Web site can enter the contest by filling out an entry form by Oct. 31, 2001.

Beyond the annual sweepstakes, visitors to the site will also find other unique content, lesson plans, teaching tools and online student activities. The site's TeacherVision section features an area focused on math, science and technology content. Those in their first and second years of teaching can read about classroom management and other related issues in the monthly newsletter. Teachers will find information on subscription services for timesaving assessment tools, including MyGradebook and QuizLab. The site also features TeacherPoints, an online shopping rewards program where teachers receive TeacherPoints for every online purchase they make at more than 150 brand name merchants, including J.C. Penney, Barnes & Noble and Land's End. Teachers can redeem accumulated points for classroom supplies from the Learning Network Store, OfficeMax.com and the National Association for Music Education.

Students can use the site to find a wealth of in-school and at-home online resources to help them succeed in school and in life. The Kids' Learning Network contains games, lifestyle magazines, school help and online talk shows. On FactMonster.com, students can read engaging features and fun facts, take quizzes and participate in polls. Homework Center provides students with individualized homework help, facts, study skills and aids, and a searchable database of common homework questions.
