Junior Achievement Program Turns Students into Business
JA Titan (http://titan.ja.org) is a free Web-based business simulation program for high school-aged students. Set in the year 2030, students become CEOs of their own manufacturing company and must master key business decisions such as price, production levels, capital investment, marketing, and research and development. The goal of the game is to achieve the highest Performance Index possible. Games can be played against the computer, or against up to eight other players or teams of players. In addition, a school-based version of JA Titan is available with lesson plans and administrative features for teachers through local Junior Achievement Inc. offices. This version allows teachers and adult volunteers to create a series of economic scenarios such as a full business cycle; recession only; product introduction phase; or, most challenging of all, product obsolescence.
