On-Net Adds Audio Event Alerts to Surveillance System

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

On-Net Surveillance Systems is adding a new audio feature to its IP-based video surveillance suite: audio monitoring coupled with the ability to send alerts and automate activities based on certain types of detected audio, such as gunshots or screams.

According to On-Net, "Upon detection of an event, the OnSSI software platform can 'push' live video of the event or of the detected area to the users' control room display, trigger the recording of the event, increase the recording framerate, or send e-mail or text message notifications to users."

Aside from triggering alerts, the audio monitoring capabilities can also bi-direction audio streaming between cameras and clients and record and time stamp audio and video. The audio capabilities are compatible with various Axis camera models. The company said other camera manufacturers will offer similar capabilities "in the near future."

Earlier this month, On-Net also released an update to its NetDVR video surveillance suite. The new 6.0 release expands compatibility and brings updates to NetGuard-EVS, NetGuard Client, and NetPDA, and NetCell portable clients.

NetDVR is a single-server NVR and camera management platform used widely by municipal governments and school systems. The new version includes a variety of updates and enhancements, including:

  • Camera Driver Pack 3.0 for NetDVMS, NetDVR and ProSight Series, which includes drivers for ACTi, Axis, Bosch, Cannon, JVC, Panasonic, Pelco, Pentax, and Vivotek;
  • Improved management capabilities, including the ability to run as a background application on Windows;
    Automatic or peer to peer push live video via the NetMatrix Intelligent Viewing component, which is now bundled in the suite; and
  • New clients and addons, including NetGuard-EVS 4.0, which offers multiple monitor support and display of up to 64 cameras per monitor; NetGuard client for browser-based remote monitoring; and NetPDA and NetCell portable clients.
