PA District Goes Green with Energy Reduction Program

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Aramark Education, a provider of professional services to more than 500 K-12 school districts in the United States, recently helped the Council Rock School District in Newtown, PA, implement a comprehensive energy reduction program that was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

At the 2008 Energy Star Awards Ceremony held in Washington, DC April 1, Council Rock School District was named as a 2008 EPA Energy Star Partner of the Year for outstanding energy management and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The energy reduction program included operational improvements, optimization of the building operations and the control programming, a control system enhancement permitting centralized and remote access, staff training for operations and maintenance, and repairs to HVAC equipment field controls.

Students, teachers and the community participated in an annual Energy Awareness Week, designed to increase energy conservation and sustainability. Activities include poster contests, daily energy announcements and "theme" days.
