LanSchool 7.1 Adds Keystroke Monitoring, USB Blocking

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

LanSchool Technologies, a developer of classroom management systems, has released a new version of its LanSchool 7 classroom management software. The new version, introduced this week at the NECC 2008 conference, adds USB limiting and keystroke monitoring capabilities.

LanSchool is a tool for Windows-based systems that provides various classroom computer control capabilities, such as screen monitoring, site blocking, application limiting, print limiting, and screen blanking, as well as classroom interaction features, such as voting and chat.

The new USB blocking feature allows teachers to disable access to students' USB drives without affecting other USB devices, according to LanSchool. And the keystroke monitoring feature allows teachers to keep a record of what students have typed on their computers. Other features in the new release include a new thumbnail view with support for up to 80 computer screen thumbnails per screen; a new feature that allows teachers to rearrange thumbnails to represent the layout of the classroom; and improved performance and reliability in the areas of wireless connections, voting, student questions, Internet access limiting, and installation.

Pricing for LanSchool starts at $299 for classrooms with fewer than 10 computers. Licenses for classrooms with 10 or more computers run $599. The upgrade is free for users who purchased LanSchool 7 within the last year.
