Erie District Revamps Student Data System

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

The School District of the City of Erie (SDCE) in Pennsylvania has deployed Infinite Campus as its student data system. The implementation, which was handled in cooperation with technology provider Custom Computer Specialists, was part of a five-year, $15 million grant the district received last year from the GE Foundation's Developing Futures in Education program.

The deployment was aimed at replacing the district's 30-year-old mainframe-based system, which had been developed in house. Some of the goals of the implementation included improving data management, improving student progress tracking, and enhancing parent communications. The system went live in August.

"Our consultant from Custom [Computer Specialists] remarked that we had one of the most efficient 'go-lives' he had seen," said Walt Strosser, SDCE director of data services, in a prepared statement. "I can confidently say these results were attributable to the extraordinary working relationship we enjoy with GE, Custom, and Infinite Campus."

SDCE serves about 12,500 students in four high schools, two middle schools, and 15 elementary schools.
