Polycom Customizes Telepresence for Vertical Markets
Polycom has launched the Architected Telepresence Experience, which offers system integrators a way to provide customers with telepresence solutions specifically engineered for the needs of the end user's application. The customized solution, called Polycom ATX 300, allows meeting spaces, furniture, displays, and décor to be customized for unique use models and to accommodate environmental requirements.
The Polycom ATX 300 is a telepresence kit that lets the system integrator combine technology, components, and software and offer planning, design, and implementation services according to the application. The system components, including codecs, cameras, microphone arrays, software, and configuration tools, are all custom selected according to the specific telepresence installation.
Customers can also incorporate existing furniture or components to reduce costs and to adapt the system to unique room requirements. In addition, content displays can be incorporated into the room design to address collaboration applications.
Polycom said the company's ATX solutions are based on established video conferencing standards and open interoperability, so organizations can use them with existing videoconferencing systems and with the estimated 2 million standards-based video conferencing and telepresence systems in use today.
In education, the Polycom ATX 300 can be adapted with installed-room audio devices, such as the Polycom SoundStructure, ceiling microphones, document cameras and other audio/visual systems, to address a range of distance learning applications such as telepresence-enabled lecture halls or highly interactive classrooms between campuses.
