3 Schools win $43,000 in Classroom Technology

CDW Government (CDW-G) and Discovery Education have selected 43 winners in the 2011 Win a Wireless Lab Sweepstakes.

The organizations awarded approximately $200,000 in classroom technology to 40 winning schools and three grand prize winning schools.

The grand prize-winners, Piner Elementary School, Spaulding School, and St. Veronica Catholic School, each received a mobile lab outfitted with technology, including a choice of at least 20 notebook computers or tablets from HP, Lenovo, or Toshiba. Other prizes awarded to the grand prize-winners include:

  • A Polyvision interactive whiteboard;
  • Twenty Qwizdom student response devices;
  • An Epson video projector;
  • One AVerMedia document camera;
  • A Discovery Education digital media grant worth $5,000;
  • Three wireless access points from Cisco, D-Link, or HP;
  • One Bretford mobile cart;
  • One laser or ink jet printer from Epson, HP, or Xerox; and
  • A Sony digital camcorder.

"The addition of the mobile lab gives our teachers the opportunity to integrate online learning into their curriculum, beyond students’ weekly designated lab time," said Mary Baldwin, principal at St. Veronica Catholic School. "The new wireless lab is also a boost to our science, technology, engineering, and mathematics initiatives in the coming year, and we expect science and mathematics teachers to take full advantage of the lab."
