Adobe Education Exchange is looking for educators to submit innovative teaching and learning materials for the 2011 Educators' Choice Awards, and a chance to win an Apple MacBook Pro or Dell XPS 15 with software from Adobe.
Open to current K-20 educators, the awards recognize the creation of inspired lessons using Adobe software in four categories: Higher Education Digital Arts and Media, Higher Education Cross-Curricular, Primary/Secondary Digital Arts and Media, and Primary/Secondary Cross Curricular.
Adobe Exchange members can log onto the contest website and vote for their favorites. Three member-selected finalists in each category will move on to a final round of voting to determine winners.
The current leading vote-getter in the Primary/Secondary Digital Arts and Media category is a lesson from Pennsylvania educator Kris Fontes that encourages students to reflect on photos from artist Ashley Gilbertson’s show, “The Shrine Down the Hall," depicting the preserved bedrooms of recently deceased American soldiers. Students then photograph their own bedrooms "in a way that will document something about the student," and optimize the image using Photoshop.
Other top-rated lessons use Adobe software like Flash and InDesign to instruct students in diverse subjects, from science and technology to publishing.
All entries are due by Oct. 14, and voting ends Oct. 28. Additional information, including prizes, entries, and contest rules, is available online.
