Optoma Rolls Out 18-Lumen Pico Projector

Optoma has released a new-palm sized DLP projector that uses an LED light source to present video and images in very small venues where ambient light levels can be kept to bare minimum.

The new projector, dubbed the Pico PK 120, has a native resolution of 640 x 360, a contrast ratio of 2,000:1, and a brightness of 18 lumens.

The unit offers 2 GB of internal memory that can be used to store and play MPEG4 (WMV, AVI, .mov, 3GP), H.264 (.mov, MP4, 3GP, AVI), M-JPEG (.mov, AVI), and Xvid (WMV, AVI) video files.  A microSD card can expand the unit's memory to 32 GB.

Additional features include:

  • Two 0.5 watt speakers;
  • A rechargeable battery that can power the projector for up to 90 minutes;
  • A maximum image size that ranges from 5 inches to 70 inches;
  • A throw ratio of 2.1:1;
  • Support for both JPEG and BMP image formats;
  • Silent operation;
  • Support for resolutions up to 1,280 x 768 (WXGA); and
  • An estimated lamp life of 20,000 hours.

The projector weighs five ounces and has dimensions of 0.8" (h) x 2.4" (w) by 4.6" (d).

AV inputs include universal 24-pin and a 2.5 mm input, which supports both composite video and stereo audio. AV outputs and peripheral ports include a stereo minijack, USB, and microSD.
