Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Acquires Analytics Company

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) has acquired Choice Solutions, a company that provides analytics, integration tools, and professional services to district- and state-level education institutions.

"Choice Solutions' systems enable integration of disparate data sources into one unified, student-centric and outcome-oriented platform," according to a news release about the move. "This can align learning programs to targeted objectives and indicators, and allow education stakeholders to take preemptive action to improve student outcomes, while monitoring and assessing the value of those interventions."

"The combination of HMH's trusted and proven educational content with Choice's expertise in the areas of data science, reporting and security will enable us to provide a truly comprehensive learning solution based on rigorous instruction and scientific analysis," said Linda Zecher, CEO at HMH, in a prepared statement. "By bridging the gaps between classroom instruction and data analysis at the state and district level, we can facilitate tailored interventions and ultimately deliver better outcomes for students."

Choice Solution clients include the Tennessee Department of Education, the Washington Department of Education, and Boston Public Schools, among others. More information about Choice Solutions is available at choicep20.com.
