Brief: NEC Debuts 42" Touchscreen Display

NEC has launched a touch-capable LCD display, the V423-TM, with support for up to four simultaneous touches.

The 42-inch display, with 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 1,300:1 contrast ratio, also features an "anti-reflective glass coating (that) protects the panel and allows for higher brightness transmittance," according to information released by NEC.

Input and output ports include RGB, DVI-D, HDMI, S-video, DisplayPort, 3.5 mm stereo minijack, Ethernet, RS232, and an expansion slot for Open Pluggable Specification devices.

"Consumers are enamored with touch capabilities on their smart phones and other hand-held devices, so organizations are capitalizing on that phenomenon to connect audiences with their own digital screens," said Rachel Karnani, senior product manager for large screen displays at NEC, in a prepared statement. "The V423-TM gives organizations a powerful tool to meet this branding objective."

The V423-TM will be available in January at a minimum advertised price of $2,399. More information is available at necdisplay.com.
