CTL Rolling Out Ruggedized Education Chromebook
CTL has introduced its new
CTL Education Chromebook
at the ISTE 2014 conference
in Atlanta, GA.
The CTL Education Chromebook is a lightweight and rugged 11.6-inch laptop
based on
Intel Education's reference design, which was designed specifically for
students. The device is designed to withstand daily use by students and features
reinforced ports, a spill-resistant keyboard, non-slip texture and a low-profile
carry handle. According to the company, "when the device is dropped on a side or
corner, the plastic bumper hits the ground first, protecting the LCD screen." It
also has a fanless design to reduce noise, an ergonomic keyboard and an
anti-reflective screen to minimize glare from lights or windows.
Key features of the CTL Education Chromebook include:
- Intel Celeron N2930 fanless, quad core processor with 2 MB cache and up
to 2.16 GHz processing speed;
- 11.6-inch' 1366 x 768 high definition LED anti-glare screen;
- Full HDMI, one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, 2-in-1 card reader and
security lock slot;
- Chrome operating system;
- Up to eight hours of battery life;
- 16 GB solid state drive, plus 100 GB Google Drive cloud storage (free
for two years);
- 4 GB of RAM;
- 802.11 a/b/g/n 2 x 2 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0;
- 180-degree rotating camera;
- Optional snap-on lens for use as a microscope with 30X magnification;
and
- Weight of 3.04 pounds.
The launch date for the CTL Education Chromebook was not announced, but it
will have an MSRP of $279. Further information can be found on
